Anti-Extremist Pop Song Goes Viral in Pakistan

A satirical music video by the pop rock band Beygairat Brigade which openly mocks the military, nationalist politicians, and religious conservatism in Pakistan has become an internet sensation with more than 400,000 views in a few short weeks. “Aalu Anday,” which means “Potatoes and Eggs,” encourages open thought and a repeal of the country's anti-blasphemy laws.

'True Blood' and the Spread of Viral Advertising

Viral marketing campaigns have changed the way the entertainment industry lures audiences. For the TV show "True Blood," for instance, the ad campaign that generated buzz was an effort to mobilize support for a (fictitious) Vampire Rights Amendment. The Takeaway is joined by one of the people behind the "True Blood" campaign, Steve Wax, a managing partner at Campfire ad agency, and Brian Morrissey, Digital Editor for Ad Week magazine.
