This past weekend, the Chicago Tribune launched the first installment in an ongoing series about the city’s public housing. Chicago is home to the largest redevelopment of public housing in the nation, and it’s being viewed as a model for other cities. Should it be? Thousands of families have been displaced by demolition or the shuttering of its projects. New housing plans are years behind schedule, with hundreds of millions of dollars already spent.
