Health insurance

Regardless of how the American public feels about the Affordable Care Act, the next phase goes into effect tomorrow.

But many of us are still unsure of just what to expect. Last week, listeners submitted questions regarding the changes that will go into effect tomorrow.

Here to answer them is Neera Tanden, formerly the senior adviser for health reform at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Tanden advised HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and worked on President Barack Obama’s health reform team in the White House. She is currently the President of the Center for American Progress.

Below you'll also find our free tool that will allow you to find out what your healthcare options are and how to get them.

Health insurance is a scam product and the cause of skyrocketing medical fees. I do not have it, do not want it and am hurt by everyone who does have it. I also do not intend on paying any penalty for not buying into a scam.

Municipal medical departments, on the other hand, would provide health care to all without charge, would employ doctors and nurses at civil service rates and would provide a venue for medical training and pharmaceutical research. I strongly support municipal medical departments. Failing that, I intend on starting the next best thing: a subscription medical service.

My question is: How long before the federal government shuts down my true medical service and forces me to buy into their Ponzi scheme?

I have coverage via the government PCIP (Pre Condition Insurance Plan). They advised me that it will expire Dec. 31 and I must apply for insurance through the exchange for Florida. I don't see an option on the site to click that would help me explore my options. Thank you.

Do I have to sign up right on Oct 1 or do I have to just do it by 2014? I am unemployed as of Oct 1 so that really screws up my timing.
