Veterans groups are suing the Department of Veterans Affairs over how it treats returning soldiers at risk of suicide. They are charging a "systemwide breakdown" in the way that traumatized soldiers have been treated.
The VA set up a hotline eight months ago to reduce suicide numbers. Since then, it has received 37,200 calls from potential suicides and made 720 "rescues."
Hotline number: 1-800-273-TALK (8255)
