This Week's Agenda: Congress Returns, Primaries Nationwide, Mid-East Peace Talks Round 2

Monday, September 13, 2010

Both the House and Senate head back into session this week, and the decision whether or not to extend the Bush-era tax cuts will be high on the agenda. Takeaway's economics editor Charlie Herman and National Journal managing editor Terence Samuel look at what else Congress has to look forward to

They also preview upcoming primaries in eight states; round two of peace talks between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Egypt; the passage of Basel III, which aims to reform the global banking system and, hopefully, prevent another financial collapse; and the expected release of one of the three American hikers held in Iran on spying charges since last year.

Terence Samuel is also the author of "The Upper House: A Journey Behind Closed Doors of the U.S. Senate."
