More Rain Exacerbates Pakistan Relief Efforts

Wednesday, August 25, 2010

More rain today added to logistical challenges facing aid and government workers trying to help tens of millions affected by the flooding. Heavy rains are in the forecast through Friday.

U.S. Army Brigadier General Michael Nagata joins us from Gazi Air Base in Pakistan with an update on the current humanitarian situation and the relief efforts spearheaded by the U.S. military.

"We were able to get helicopters into nothern Pakistan to help with the relief efforts here very quickly," says Nagata, "because we diverted assets from Afghanistan for a couple of weeks before we could move our current fleet of helicopters that are here at Gazi with me now."
