Israel Expands Under America's Critical Eye

Monday, August 03, 2009

Yesterday, Israeli security forces evicted two Palestinian families from their homes in East Jerusalem. The families waged a lengthy court battle to block the eviction, but failed in their mission to remain in their homes. The issue of settlements has been a roadblock to peace negotiations and been a point of contention in the U.S.-Israel relationship. It's so nice to see Israel so hard at work towards a peace deal...

Still, there are the Israel apologists who can't - or don't want to see - that all the Zionists are doing is lie while, in the background, continue to commit atrocities which entail everything from land theft to Apartheid and genocide but for as long as AIPAC is on the scene with their mouths wide open, screaming "Holocaust" and "anti-Semmitism" the world will do nothing because they're afraid of the monster they've created.

Your host suggested a possible response to the latest Israeli theft of Palestinian property in E. Jerusalem: that this was Netanyahu's way of being conciliatory to Obama's demand for a halt to the West Bank settlements. I can't emphasize too much to you how asinine a suggestion that was, which was no doubt the reason your interlocutor, the BBC area expert, completely ignored it.
