Loretta Lopez, Teen Winner of Scholastic Writing Award

Wednesday, June 09, 2010

Tonight the most talented young writers and artists in America will gather on stage at New York City’s Carnegie Hall, where they will be awarded at the Scholastic Art and Writing’s Portfolio Gold Award.

Awardees join the ranks of distinguished past recipients like Andy Warhol, Zac Posen, Joyce Carol Oates and John Lithgow – each of whom received recognition when they were in high school. We speak with high school senior Loretta Lopez, of Guadalajara, Mexico, where she attends the American School Foundation of Guadalajara. Loretta is one of the 15 recipients of this year's award.
