Movie Date: 'The World's End,' 'You're Next,' 'The Spectacular Now'

In this week's Movie Date podcast, Kristen and Rafer review movies that are about drinking...or that might be best watched while drunk. They include: "The World's End," which is about an alcoholic embarking on a 12-pub crawl gone wrong; "The Spectacular Now," which is about an alcoholic embarking on a romance gone wrong; and "You're Next," which is about a a bunch of rich people at a family gathering gone wrong. Also, Kristen and Rafer take a few minutes to complain about the current state of movie etiquette.

I disagree with Rafer's review - There is a Big story in The Spectacular Now ...and the ending is perfect. This movie is not at all a comedy - it is realistic and intense - acting, pacing and storytelling superb.

Wonderful opening, guys!

Based on your discussion, I'm going to suggest that both of you view the film "The Days of Wine and Roses."

Cheers...er, take care!

I love your podcast. I have been binging on it since I found it a month ago. Kristen, Rafer, I just gotta say “SPOILERS”. If that little voice in your head says, “I don’t think I’m giving TOO much away” you already have.
Kristen, keep on laughing. It is one of the most joyful sounds on the planet. Rafer I like to sit 11 rows back in the middle. If you want that seat I'll arm wrestle you for it.
Hope to see you at TIFF. I once saw 48 movies when it was the Festival of Festivals.
Laughing and snoring.
