Adam Driver: Actor, Artist, Veteran

Monday, November 12, 2012

Adam Driver is best known for his role in the hit HBO show Girls, in which he plays Hannah (Lena Dunham's) boyfriend. But there's more to Mr. Driver than meets the eye. He is not only a talented stage actor and graduate of Julliard, but also a former Marine.

In honor of Veteran's Day, Driver performed in a series of plays and monologues with Arts in the Armed Forces.

Micah, I know this is kind of late, as I have just stumbled across this. Please take it easy on the guy. He wanted to be a veteran. Things happen. He got injured, and it was an honorable discharge. He is still doing whatever he could for those who are doing and have done, what he truly wanted to do, but wasn't able to, due to injury. He has this non profit organization to entertain the armed forces, through the arts. He is doing what he could and I find this to be commendable. So please, no harsh judgments on a young man, whose hart is in the right place.

Actor, artist, veteran? Really? On this day, in these times with the sad over-abundance of combat vets whose stories could have added value to your show, you picked a guy who never even saw a war theater let alone combat. I'm disappointed that he was on your show today and even you seemed surprised when you asked what missions he particpated in and, um, he said none.

C'mon.
