Paul Ryan wraps up his first weeks as a vice presidential candidate, which both parties are gearing up for the conventions. The Republican National Convention begins on August 27 and the Democratic National Convention begins the following week on September 4.

Back to school season is often the second-most important time for retailers, so economic analysts will be watching sales figures through the end of the month. Figures on existing home sales and new home sales will also be out later this week.
