We’re pretty good at consuming coffee. We press the button on the espresso machine, or boil the kettle and dump some powder into a filter, or join the long line at Starbucks. But how much do we really know about the coffee we drink? And how good are we at making it?
Katie Carguilo, who works as a barista trainer at Counter Culture Coffee, is representing the United States in the World Barista Championship in Vienna this week. It's a competitive coffee competition where Carguilo must make a 15 minute presentation before a panel of judges while preparing espressos, cappuccinos, and a signature beverage.
