Job seekers line up for the job fair at Coney Island. (Kathleen Horan/WNYC)

This week and last we asked you about your job and you responded with a flurry of calls. Takeaway listeners told us stories about loving and hating their jobs, having to relocate to find work, taking second and third jobs, and having to cut their own pay as small business owners. The economy may be improving, but many Americans are still struggling to make ends meet.

Personal Finance Reporter for our partner The New York Times Ron Lieber responds to our listeners' calls.

I want to add to Ron Lieber's list of places for potential small business owners to seek help. Besides places to get loans, there are places to get help with doing feasibility studies, writing business plans, looking at how to get access to new markets. Among the places to get such technical assistance: SBA Small Business Development Centers, SBA Women's Business Centers, many Microenterprise Development Centers throughout the land and community colleges to name just a few sources - it is not just about the money; it is also about the planning and managing a small business.
