Sgt. Gilad Shalit, the Israeli soldier who has been imprisoned by Hamas since 2006, was released on Tuesday in Egypt as part of a prisoner trade between Israel and Hamas. In exchange for Shalit's release, Israel freed 477 Palestinian prisoners, the first group of what will be more than 1,000. The deal is seen as a major political victory for Hamas, which Israel considers to be a terrorist organization. "I very much hope that this deal will advance peace," Shalit told Egyptian television before he was released. Many Israelis support the swap, but Arnold Roth, who was on The Takeaway yesterday, does not. Roth lost his daughter in 2001 to a Palestinian suicide bomber. The woman who drove that bomber is one of the 477 set to be released today.

Khaled Hroub, director of Cambridge Arab Media Project at the University of Cambridge, and author of "Hamas: Political Thought and Practice" and "Hamas: A Beginners Guide," is a Palestinian, and reacts to the swap.

There is no Palestine. There never was a Palestine or a Palestinian people. The Jews resettled the land before, during and after the holocaust. They never wanted to fight with the indiginous Arabs, but Arab/Muslim racism prevented coexistence. All of these so-called Arab countries are artificial cut-outs from the European occupations. Arabs and Muslims are taught to hate ALL NON-Muslims, which justifies for them, endless murder around the globe. One cannot have peace with these people until they renounce these hateful ideals that allow them to love the most notorious murderer Muslims more than the innocent civilians killed by their terrorist proxies around the world. These are still the people who were dancing in the streets on the day of September 11, 2001. Stop asking silly questions about the future of a peace process. The Only time that the Arabs are honest with the world, is when they continue to proclaim that they will never recognize a Jewish country. That is the only thing that Israel and the world can trust.

Question.. Who murdered tens of millions of Europeans, among them six million Jews? Was it the Palestinian ''terrorists'', or was it the German people? If the answer is the Palestinian ''terrorists'', then they are getting everything they deserve. If the answer is the German people, then it is they who should pickup the tab, not the happless Palestinians. Maybe 15 thousand square miles along the Baltic Sea?

Interesting that John didn't challenge Mr. Hroub on his contention that the jailed Palestinians were freedom fighters defending their land, when a good number of the released were guilty of blowing up civilians at pizza places, Passover meals, buses- an indiscriminate bloodbath of terror totally devoid of any sanctum of a creed of ethical warfare
