House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn Takes the Pulse of Health Care Reform

Tuesday, March 16, 2010

House Majority Whip Rep. James Clyburn (D-S.C.) joins us with the very latest on the contentious health care reform bill that will likely see a vote in Congress later this week.

Although Clyburn recently told NBC’s Meet the Press that he was “very confident that we will get this done,” House and Senate Democrats have thus far failed to build the coalition of progressives and moderates necessary to pass the sweeping reform bill.

Clyburn joins us for a behind-the-scenes look at the current state of negotiations and the source of his newfound legislative confidence.

Reform. The hype about the EHR is just that. Good if it works but buyer beware. Mine only does 40% of what it is supposed to do. The stimulus ARRA is a carrot to get mid and small practices to get on board but it excludes Peds and OB unless they take >20% medicaid...hard to do and stay solvent in a smaller practice...

A healthcare overhaul is needed for this country.

Those who would say otherwise are using the "debate" to serve their own narrow interest and to twist opinions through misinformation campaigns.

Doubtless - there are less than an ideal aspects of this bill but the overall affect will be an immense improvement for a large part of our population. We should all be outraged at the treatment our fellow citizens have received with our current system. Instead we see outrageous behaviour, political posturing and false propaganda.

Let's get this thing passed!!

with senators/representatives always thinking about elections and not what is best for the country, we will never have meaningful healthcare reform.

The pro-life democrats will not vote for this bill, and others don't want to vote for it, but are under great pressure.
