A 'Common' Misunderstanding

Wednesday, May 11, 2011

Michelle Obama is hosting a poetry program tonight at the White House, and her guest will be hop-hop artist, Lonnie Rashid Lynn, Jr., better known as, Common. Many conservatives are outraged by this decision, Fox News called the rapper, "vile." Conservatives are pointing to a set of lyrics from Common's "A Letter to the Law," where he says:"With that happening, why they messing with Saddam? Burn a Bush cos' for peace he no push no button. Killing over oil and grease, no weapons of destruction."

Is Common really the controversial and vile figure conservatives are painting him to be? Chris Richards, pop music critic for The Washington Post says that Common is one of the most highly regarded rappers out there and for the most part, he is uncontroversial.

COMMON SENSE vs RAMBO & THE TERMINATOR. Contraversal movie/art featuring two of America's favorite actors Arnold Schwartzenegger and Sylvester Stallone doesn't disqualify them from White House invitations. If Arnold can enter a police station, kill police officers, then leave threatening, "I'LL BE BACK!", and afterwards become the Gov. of the State of California, then surely Common can go to the White House to read his poetry/art. After all the killing and violence against police officers by Mr. Schwarzenneger, parents still took their children to see the kids movie: "JINGLE ALL THE WAY". And no one calls Stallone a terrorist after killing many of our US Military men and women in his movie "RAMBO!" After making a movie where he murdered many men and women of the US Armed Services, parents still took their kids to see him in the children's movie, "SPY KIDS 3-D: GAME OVER".

It's COMMON KNOWLEDGE that the fox network is behind the push to remove COMMON SENSE, but isn't that what the fox network does everyday (remove common sense from our daily dialogue? They find any little excuse to attack the Presiden and the First Lady, then, like a tag-team wrestling match, pass the story on from one hosts show to the next, until by the end of the day it seems like the whole world is outraged about whatever it is that they attempt to make an issue out of (especially if you read the comments on their website from their viewers). But, it's clear here on this site that not everybody buys into the madness that gets brewed and perpetuated over at fox everyday. So keep up the good work America. This is what being a REAL PARIOT is all about...using our COMMON SENSE, to work toward the COMMON GOOD!
