Don’t call it just a minivan. Rapping parents in a viral ad for the Toyota Sienna call the four-door family-mobile a “swagger wagon." According to a recent story from The New York Times, automakers are re-marketing the minivan as a cool car. Is 2011 the year of the minivan?

We speak with New York Times automotive reporter Nick Bunkley and Laura Weisskopf Bleill, a proud minivan owner and editor and founder of ChambanaMoms.com, a site for moms in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois.

Why does everybody need a minivan? Especially Nick Bunkley, a family with one newborn child doesn't need a minivan, they don't even need a stationwagon. Americans in particular don't seem to understand getting along with less. While everybody else seems to keep wanting bigger more ostentatious cars I'm going small, hurray for the Ford Fiesta and Fiat 500!

I love our minivan: it is like driving around in a living room, with decent gas mileage. Yes, I would love it even more if it were fitted out like a Mini or BMW, but, hey, there's an opportunity...
