Van Jones' proposal to trade caulk guns for handguns is brilliant, but let’s take this plan a step further. Instead of patching leaky windows let’s invest in a Green Windows Initiative. Replace old windows with new ones. It’s the first step in solarization. Fund the new 3G window technologies already out there and create a skilled workforce to install them. The reduction in heating bills in federally subsidized housing alone could be significant. 3G windows will also reduce asthma.
