The plight of a pilot in today's airline industry

United is the latest airline to announce cutbacks, joining Northwest, Delta and Continental. United says, beginning this summer, it will eliminate 950 pilots from its roster after already announcing it would drop 1,600 salaried positions.

Guest: Michele Summers-Halleran is an assistant professor in the Department of Aeronautical Science at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. She's also a former airline pilot who’s been furloughed more times than she cares to remember.
