Politico is calling it a "Family Feud" on Capital Hill. Mounting tension between the Congressional Black Caucus and one-time member, now-President Barack Obama, seems to be coming to a head.  Yesterday, our guest, Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.), issued a statement accusing the President of not doing enough to create jobs for people of color. While Lee downplays any friction, the criticism implies growing frustration from the caucus with the country's first African-American president.

Signaling its willingness to discuss improved relations with the United States under the Obama administration, Havana welcomed a contingent from the Congressional Black Caucus. On the agenda? The relationship between the two countries, but also an audience with Fidel Castro. Three members of the Congressional Black Caucus were the first American officials to meet with Fidel Castro since he fell ill in 2006. Representative Barbara Lee (D-Cal), Chair of the Congressional Black Conference, joins The Takeaway to report on the state of the relationship between Cuba and the U.S. and the state of health of Fidel Castro.

Today President Obama meets with the 42 black lawmakers who comprise the Congressional Black Caucus. Established 40 years ago, does the Congressional Black Caucus have more legislative muscle now that the nation has its first African-American president? Or has Obama’s presidency rendered the Congressional Black Caucus irrelevant? For a look at what the Caucus’ agenda will be under the Obama administration and for a preview of what’s on the docket for today’s meeting, we are joined by the Caucus’ Chairwoman, Congresswoman Barbara Lee.
