Spanky Goes Venetian II Is this any better? (Jane Bloom)
The only real complaint we got during the recent Takeaway Dog Show was this: Why can’t I submit a photo of my cat? Well, we’re bowing to popular demand and holding the first ever Takeaway Cat Show!
We have a winner! After more than a hundred submissions and hundreds of votes, the top cat is Spanky (#51), submitted by Jane Bloom. Here are the top three vote-getters, as determined by Takeaway listeners:
Meanwhile, WNYC's Sarah Montague did such a good job with her commentary on our dog show that we asked her to make her cat picks, along with more of her insightful commentary. Check it out ».

So many adorable ones! But I have to vote for 72 with the outstretched leg and 89 with its head tucked down in that comfort cat pose.
These are awesome! And lots of great photography. The converse kitty esp. hit home for me... my cat LOVES my converse and rolls around the floor with them like they are his two favorite lovers, hahaha.
Entry #73 "The Good Life" was a fabulous photo of Charlotte.
She is a winner but missed this contest!
Even though our Spanky won, I think every cat in this contest is a winner. Congratulations to all the kitties and their humans who participated in this contest.
A domesticated animal is not news. Spare me.
Where's that adorable one -eyed cat? I think his name is Sam. I hear he's overcome enormous challenges to be able to compete. I'd like to give him my vote and a great big scoop of vanilla ice cream along with my vote for the cutest ever kitty.
Cat number 20 is soooo adorable, I want to take him home with me
Spanky is adorable!
31 is adorable
They all are terrific and all deserve a prize. I voted for number 2. ;-)
Your next "contest" should be animal photography -- some of these pics are great.
I voted for #81. I have to admit I was influence by the classic high-top Converse -- a good looking feline with great taste in shoes!
