Alex Goldmark (Senior Producer) here, with what's changed recently for tomorrow's Takeaway.
We got to thinking about President Obama's announcement to fund the construction of new nuclear plants that would be the first since the Three Mile Island disaster in 1979. What we started wondering as we always do, is what is the local impact of this national policy. So we'll check in with the Mayor of Waynesboro, Georgia, near a nuclear plant set to expand.
We've got plenty of Olympic coverage lined up too, from the latest medal count to an expert take on the finer side of sport: the fashion of figure skating. Yes, really. And it will be interesting. Trust us.
Then we'll give you some Chinese new year recipes for a lucky year. Who doesn't want delicious luck?

Jim (the web editor) here, with a quick update on what we’re putting together for tomorrow’s show.
First up, be sure and check out today’s coverage of the capture of the top Taliban leader in Afghanistan. Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar was seized by U.S. and Pakistani forces last week, but we didn't hear about the news until last night. Turns out TheNew York Times had the story five days ago, but the paper held onto it at the request of White House officials. This morning we asked Times editor Bill Keller the reason why.
Tomorrow, we’ll continue our coverage of the NATO-led offensive in Southern Afghanistan. We've been finding out that the biggest threat to allied forces so far hasn’t been encounters with Taliban fighters. It’s been the less visible danger of buried IEDs. We’ll talk to a bomb disposal expert about this particular challenge.
We’ll also look at the effects of the federal stimulus bill one year after it was signed into law. Takeaway transportation correspondent Andrea Bernstein will tell us how the program has fared over the past 12 months, and we’ll hear from two construction workers who may or may not have benefited.
Finally, tomorrow, we’ll know what dog is considered the most ideal in its breed, as the winners of the Westminster Dog Show get announced. We’ll talk to WNYC reporter Sarah Montague, who is covering the show for the ninth time.
And this may not bestow the same honor as Westminster, but tomorrow we’ll have the results of The Takeaway’s own dog show. More than a hundred Listeners submitted photos of their four-legged companions and we asked everyone else to votes for Best in Show. We’ll let you know who won on the air tomorrow. But check out the site later today for a sneak peak at the winner!
