We started our week-long conversation with Scientific American about things ending and how our lives will change when they do. Today we looked at the earth and whether the changes we are witnessing, like global warming, will permanently alter the way we live. We asked you, our listeners, to weigh in. What would you like to see end?
Sarah Elizabeth Canido: GUNS
Diane Libby: I'll be glad to see the end of this double-dip recession. It can't be a coincidence that it resembles a Dubbya!
Via text message:
From Pontiac, MI: I'd like to see Reality Television end.
From Brooklyn, NY: Affirmative action.
From Jersey City, NJ: Suburban sprawl and everything that comes with it.
From Atlanta, GA: War...hate... Crime. I guess whatever it is that causes people to be so darn evil!
From Miami, FL: War, famine, greed, hate
Providence, RI: The nonsensical partisan games that plague our government. We need to stop promoting the ideals of a two-party system and look more closely at the candidates.
From New York, NY: Lethal discrimination of women in certain countries.
And listeners called 877 8 MYTAKE:
Greg from Baltimore: The thing I would never miss would be bed bugs. I never had them but I am sick of seeing them on television and they give me the creeps.
