I have been listening to your series on heros - and thought you might want to know about an organization that has been recognizing hero's for 104 years. The organization is the Carnegie Hero Fund Commission, originally established and funded by Andrew Carnegie in 1904. Ever since, the commission's mission has been to identify genuine heros, and to recognize them, and compensate them or their survivors, when needed. For more information, I refer you to their web site, www.carnegiehero.org, where you can get all the information you need regarding this organiztion. As a former board member, I can tell you that some of the heroic deeds people perform without any thought of recognition of any kind are absolutely astounding.
Please feel free to contact me if you would like further information regarding the Carnegie Hero Fund Commission.
