Barack Obama Claims the Democratic Nomination
On Tuesday, Illinois Senator Barack Obama greeted voters as the de facto Democratic nominee. What has seemed like a never-ending race culminated, at a rally in St. Paul, Minn., in the same arena that will host the Republican National Convention in September.
The symbolism is hardly subtle — it's an indication that Obama is positioning himself for the general election. Political Reporter Rachel Stassen-Berger has been covering Twin City politics for over a decade. She was at the rally and offers an insider’s take on what the event means for the Democratic party and the race ahead.
