Hurray for the Riff Raff performs at the 2013 SXSW Music Conference.
South by Southwest has come to be known as one of the hippest parties for those who are into cutting-edge film, game-changing technology, and eco-friendly ideas. From the movie "Bridesmaids" to the social networking site Twitter, South by Southwest was the launching pad.
But lest we forget, it all started with music. And according to David Brown, there’s still plenty of it that’s great. Wade through the 2,500-plus bands, and you might just find the next headlining act on Saturday Night Live or poster band for Apple.
David is covering SXSW music for KUT and KUTX Austin. Here are a few of the bands he picks out: Frightened Rabbit, Sons of Fathers, My Jerusalem, Pickwick (with guest vocalist Sharon Van Etten), and Hurray for the Riff Raff.

Love Hooray for the Riff Raff. They were in Portland, OR a few months ago, and I heard them live.
"Look Out Mama" is such a great track. Alinda Lee Sequera is great. Of all the bands played today, the album "Hooray For Riff Raff," from Alinda is the only one that made me want to hear more.
