Grover Norquist is the creator of the “Taxpayer Protection Pledge.” It’s an oath to never vote for any legislation that will raise taxes. More than 270 members of Congress have pledged, and they’re all Republican. But now one Republican is taking his John Hancock off the oath. That Republican is Virginia Rep. Scott Rigell.
Rep. Rigell instead proposes a new idea. A recent TIME Magazine article called it the 20 percent solution. It involves raising the country's revenues (which includes taxes) to somewhere near 20 percent, and cutting down spending to 20 percent.

Ms. Headlee did indeed address Congressman Rigell as "congressman". Only after Congressman Rigell addressed Ms. Headlee by her first name, did she then address him by his first name. It seemed totally appropriate.
And next week, The Takeaway will be hosting Democrats from the House leadership who are willing to cut federal spending along the lines suggested by Rep. Rigell...

Celeste; one suggestion for you. When a member of the House of Representatives is one of your interview guests, refer to her or him as "Congressman," or "Representative," or whatever title that the gender-specification might demand.
