There is one common thread that binds most products we use on a daily basis: they are copyrighted. But on August 1, filmmaker Sam Muirhead announced that he would attempt to live without all these products, in an effort to immerse himself in the open source movement. This means he will have to find alternatives from everything to the beer he drinks to the socks he wears.
Muirhead is calling the experiment the “Year of Open Source,” and he will be documenting his experience on his website.

He is trying to be the Internet Thoreau... I hope nobody told him that his recording on the show today is copyrighted. I mean I am assuming The Takeaway has some copyrights...
Ah, the crazy fads kids get involved with
I hope he also makes note of all the people who are involved in all of the products/services etc who make these products/services every day. They deserve respect for what they do.
