The world’s population is set to reach seven billion on Monday. And all this week, we’ve been talking about what this monumental number means for our people, resources and our planet. Should we be concerned about our booming population? Will we be able to feed a more populated World whilst protecting the environment? And how will global economies adjust?
To discuss this we are joined by David Lam, professor of economics at the University of Michigan and president of the Population Association of America.

I heard several of your segments on this topic and none addressed resource constranits in any serious way. When will we realize that we live on a finite planet? Seven billion is far beyond a sustainable population for our children and their children. Countries losing population are on the right track. The greatest achievement of the 21st century will be learning to share as we experience global warming and loss of ecosystem support that we take for granted.
