There are reports that 4,000 people have been protesting in Daraa, Syria and that security forces used teargas on the crowd. However, according to Reem Haddad, Syrian information ministry spokesperson and director of Syrian TV, this is simply not true. She says that the people of Syria are different from the people of the United States. She also says that "never in Syria has there been an incident of sectarian unrest. In Syria religious tolerance is not taught to us," she says, "it is part of the DNA."

Civil war during the late 1970's culminating in the Hama massacre (1982). Dear o' dear get another spokesperson!
It is interesting that the host asked a question " do you think Syrian people are freer than American people?" I would say that Syrian people may not be freer than American people but certainly better off than the people in countries where U.S. has intervened.....

The interview with the Syrian govt. spokesperson, as well as the one last week with the Libyan govt. spokesperson, were both excellent.
It just goes to show what good, free (public?) journalism is all about in exposing pure propaganda as completely unsubstantiated by facts-on-the-ground and the utter balderdash that it is. Thank you.
