At the end of the month, President Barack Obama will deliver his annual State of the Union address. At that time, we can expect to hear him lay out his roadmap for the next two years. In the weeks leading up to his address, we'll talk with some key political observers about direction the president should and must move in while he's still in office. Today we speak with Roger Hodge, author of "The Mendacity of Hope: Barack Obama and the Betrayal of American Liberalism." Hodge is a fierce liberal critic of the president, and says Obama must focus on economic stimulus and job creation and end policies that kill jobs and attack our civil liberties.

I know John was simply wrapping up the segment, but his point as to whether the business community will get its payoff from the Obama admin. "investment" misses the point:

The business community already has gotten a tremendous return on their investment and virtually EVERYTHING they wished for, including support of the financial sector through TARP with little to no conditions, historically low interest rates, generous deduction/write offs, no sunset of Bush tax cut, etc.

The only thing that has ticked off the business community, and especially Wall St., is the fact that Obama's rhetoric was not to their liking, since they want public credit as the Masters of the Universe instead of the _gentle_ upbraiding they have received. This is a personal matter for the self-important, self-righteous business community - read: mainly execs. from large corporations - who disdain any politician that criticizes them.

This POLITICO article goes right to the heart of the matter: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1210/46839.html

Obama is a moderate (never claimed otherwise) and a corporatist, the latter a prerequisite for all U.S. Presidents. All the talk of socialism, etc. by the right-wing is ludicrous blather.
