Through midnight Monday, expatriate Egyptians headed to embassies and consulates around the world to cast their vote in the second round of Egypt’s parliamentary elections. These are the first free elections in 60 years and the first elections to take place since the Arab Spring.

Ashraf Sewailam is originally from Giza, a city just outside of Cairo. He's been working as an observer for the Egyptian parliamentary elections at the consulate in New York.

Hopefully the Muslim Brotherhood are big opera fans and can be expect an equally jocular and sanguine interview which joyfully ignores the ominous writing on the wall if they turn the nation into a Islamic theocracy?
Too bad Iraqis who courageously risked their lives to vote did not get this much support from the media but all that clearly is determined by domestic US politics and not middle-east politics.
