We touched a nerve yesterday when we looked into the significance of Nevada Senator Harry Reid's comment over President Obama's dialect and level of skin tone.
We received a flood of responses to the discussion and one issue that came up was whether the concept being too light-skinned or too black is still an issue in the Black community. Raina Kelly, staff writer for Newsweek Magazine and Patrik Henry Bass, Books editor for Essence Magazine, say the issue has deep roots in this country, but it's hard to say if it's still important today.
