Obama Administration Moves to Finance New Nuclear Plants

Tuesday, February 16, 2010

President Obama is expected to announce loan guarantees for the construction and operation of two nuclear reactors in Georgia. The announcement is part of an effort to create jobs, find alternative energy sources and gain bipartisan support.

Aaron Gould Sheinin from the Atlanta Journal Constitution says the process is getting underway and that this will create 3000 construction jobs and 800 permanent jobs once the plants are running. However, he says there are still concerns about storing nuclear waste and safety.

Why didn't you mention the recent and ongoing leak of Tritium from the Vermont Yankee nuclear plant. Those who promote Nuclear energy seem to ignore these frequent leaks.
