Love at Work: The Perks and the Perils of an Office Romance

Tuesday, February 09, 2010

With Valentine's Day soon upon us, we dedicate this week's work conversation to the topic of the modern workplace romance. Is there a right way to do it? Can you get fired for it? And how do you become the next Jim and Pam, while avoiding the outcome of David Letterman?

Beth Kobliner, The Takeaway's work contributor, offers up stats and advice for people who are crushed out on co-workers. And Shelly and Kevin Shenoy, a happily married couple who met at work, share their story.

Read more about their romance on our blog.

We are forty-two years into our marriage after a 2-year office romance. The best thing about the office setting was the honest surprise of everyone when we announced our engagement. By mutual agreement we stayed totally discreet in and around the office. Only one girl suspected something was going on.
