On Monday morning, with much of the east coast of the U.S. under a thick blanket of snow, we asked our listeners for their weather stories. Rebecca Poston Creel, from South Carolina, wrote in with her family's story, and we thought it was one worth sharing with our listeners. This is what she said:
My brother in law is terminally ill and we are afraid that this may be our last Christmas together. We celebrated the holiday on Sunday and all woke up to a blanket of snow! In South Carolina it's a very uncommon event. It was so wonderful to play with our brother, his three-year-old daughter and the rest of the family, in the snow for the holiday. It may have been the best Christmas of our lives! It was without a doubt a Christmas miracle for our family.
We spoke with Rebecca's sister, Erin Stone, whose husband, Patrick, is suffering from terminal cancer. Erin details the family's experiences with the disease on her blog.

Just a week before Christmas we got the diagnosis that my father has terminal pancreatic cancer. We knew Christmas 2010 would be his last. The Red Cross flew my brother home from Germany where he is a Staff Sgt in the US Army. My husband and I drive up from our home in Alabama. My grandma flew in from Arizona. The whole family was together. I said one thing that would make this perfect would be a white Christmas, in Knoxville, TN that didn't happen often... this year it did! If only 1 more miracle could happen...a cure! God Bless you and your family!
I lost my husband (59) to cancer 6 months ago. He left me and 3 kids plus his mom. His death ended almost 3 years of diagnosis, treatment and finally his passing. We kept things as normal as possible; accepting the changes that cancer makes on a family as our "new" normal. We lived for each day never worrying about plans for the future...how could we make plans? And now? We continue to do the things that families do; yet we are less one person who is thought about daily. We grieve his death yet move forward and slowly make our way back as a family. It is hard but we will make it.
Dave,
Our family will be thinking about you and you will be in our prayers. Please check back in on the site so we can have an update!
The Poston/Stone/Creel family.
Well I am all about the internet and articles right now. Was in the hospital a couple of weeks back for something totally off the wall and of that the discovery of not one but two areas of concern, the biopsy results tomorrow at 1:10 PM.
Intitial reports had the C word all over them.. I am just wondering how I will deal with the dreaded disease.
I have a new look on just about everything right now from my planned fishing trips this spring and mostly about my 14 year old baby girl.
How to deal I just cannot immagine what I will be thinking tomorrow once I learn what exactly it is and just how extensive..
My new song is hoping wednesday never comes..
Peace to all this holiday season.. Live each moment like you are handling fine china. Life is just that fragile don't take it for granted..
Back at you tomorrow night.
