Immigration Policies Past and Future

Dream Act shelved for this Congress

Tuesday, December 21, 2010

More unauthorized immigrants have been deported from the United States since 2008 than in any another two-year period in the country's history. Just this past Saturday, the so-called Dream Act, which would have offered a path to citizenship for some illegal immigrants who came here as minors, was stalled in the Senate over a vote to bring it to the floor. Why have the past two years been so particularly tough on illegal immigration? And what, if anything, are the next steps for immigration reform?

Joining us to discuss the past and future of immigration reform are Muzaffar Chishti, Director of the Migration Policy Institute at NYU Law School, and Israel Ortega, Editor and Spanish Media Associate at The Heritage Foundation.

"Ian from "Tempe", don't be so sure that your dreams of a Third World America are going to work out--things be a changing fast.

All around the country people are waking up to the fact that ICE raids are freeing up jobs for legal Amerians.

Major net exit of illegals out of Arizona, and many are going back to Mexico. Ditto in Georgia.

We only need so many people to bus tables and run lawn edger machines, "Ian". If that's your skillset, this isn't the place for you.

Meanwhile, Chinese, Japanese, Jews--these folks are flooding into technical fields and making money. They're your problem, not BillyBob, Ian. How many gardeners do you think they need? (Actually, "gardener" is a bit glamorous for most of these guys who run lawn edger machines--and don't even have the competence of an experienced plant person, which is nothing to sneeze at.) Or is it welfare you think you're going to get?

Cheers for 2011...

Shelly

Let's see here. By my math, there are over 316 Million people in the USA. The majority of voters say get out to illegals! The result is 20 Million Illegals are going home. Do you get it now?

American forget or have no clue about their family roots. No one is full American anymore. Prove to me ur family tree was grown here for thousands of years. And dnt forget, ur food is Italian, ur car is Chinese, ur clothes are Chinese. Everything here is transported from foreign countries. Plus u dnt want to work jobs that us immigrants work. Go try delivering newspaper in the middle of the night, or clean houses for people, or deliver pizza for minimum wage. Go try for a good 5 years. U won't last 3 months.

No human is illegal. Billy Bob is on the wrong side of history and demographics. A just and comprehensive immigration reform is a matter of when, not if. Angry old white people have already lost this war, they just don't know it yet. history will come full circle in the next 20 years or so.

Every Non-representative including obama and holder need to be IMPEACHED! for not upholding the oath of office they swore to defend the Constitution! If these clowns were to do their job, this would all be a Moot point!
Anchor babies and their criminal parents go, period, and cut the phony tears, you knew you were breaking the law when you crossed the border.

Next shut down any business hiring illegal labor and confiscate all property belonging to the owner. Property will be sold at auction and the proceeds to pay for the massive deportation. Oh and owners go to jail.
Got a better idea? Lets here it!

American citizens will punish those senators who voted 'yea' on the recent cloture vote. We have spoken loud and clear that we want border security and deportation. One only has to analyze the last election to understand that it will continue to be the trend.

I worked 80 hour weeks to pay for my children going to college and the DREAM act would artificilly inflate the labor supply. That would drive down the wages that myself and my children worked so hard to achieve. Why should I not be opposed to illegal aliens destroying our achievements?

It's been too many years of giving you everything for free. You get to be 30 before a GED and you think you are the brightest.
Racism = expecting mercy at the northern border and arrest at the southern border. That's the Mexican policy. Just becasue you haven't committed a crime you expect a reward. I would like a reward of not supporting you. You take more in social services than you'll ever pay in taxes. GO HOME!
