Your commentary this morning is a travesty. For example Michael Gordon of the NY Times is interviewed. Coincidently he has a front page, first column article on the withdrawal of USA forces BUT at no point in the article does he refer to "combat" troops; yet for whatever reason in your comments today you continually refer to the term "combat". The IRAQ War ended as a FACT with the depositon of Saddaam Hussein who during his 30 year reign was responsible for the deaths of one million people. Since his being deposed, and trial and execution for crimes against humanity our presence has been to keep the internal peace between the Sumnis, Shiites and Kurds. There has been NO combat with Iraq's since then but policing the populace to try to keep the peace and establish a democratic form of government. Your incessant question of what is the legacy leaves out historic facts and coincidently the ignores the country's strategic position in the Middle East oil patch (see Ted Koppel NY Times 2/24/2006). You also do not break down the $742 billion cost on the basis of money spent in the USA economy, i.e equipment manufacture and the payroll of the USA troops.
.
How can we justify leaving Iraq so the world does not see us asa quitters?
