Today President Obama will award a posthumous Medal of Honor to Sergeant First Class Jared Monti. The nation's highest military honor will be given to Monti for his bravery. He was killed in Afghanistan in 2006 when he ran into enemy fire three times trying to rescue an injured comrade. Zachary Barnes served as a medic with the 10th Mountain Division in Afghanistan. He knew and served with Sergeant First Class Monti.

Thank you C.P. for bring up SSG Patrick Lybert. Sadly time did not allow me to tell everything about the night and I take full responsibility for failing to fit his story in. I know he was very, very close to you and I extend my deepest heart felt apology for your loss and my failing to mention him. Believe me when I say he is never forgotten. Not a day passes when I don't think of Patrick and his ultimate sacrifice and I know I'm not the only one.
Thanks for sharing this tragic and difficult story, and thanks to you and all the brave soldiers of 10th Mountain Division's 3-71 Cavalry for all that you did during OEF VII. SFC Monti, SSG Lybert, PFC Bradbury, and SSG Craig are gone but will never be forgotten.
