While the tragic shooting at Fort Hood, Texas, has captured the nation's attention today, the military has long been an interest for Hollywood. We look at two upcoming releases that address loss and life for military families. Newsday film critic Rafer Guzman talks us through "Brothers" and "The Messenger" as well as the recently released film "The Hurt Locker."

It's the same movie, remade in English as "Brothers." It's called "Brodre," and it's Danish, not German. Won a Sundance award and others in 2004.
"The Brothers" is probably a good movie, but only because it's a ripoff of a German movie more understated and likely much better. I forget the name of it, but the plot is exactly the same, except that the brother and wife almost sleep together, but don't. And it ends in a mental hospital, not in a Hollywood shootout.
