The issue of taxpayer money funding health plans that cover abortions is once again thoroughly complicating negotiations over health care reform in the Senate, despite the 33-year-old 'Hyde Amendment,' which bans the use of federal funds for abortions. The Hyde Amendment banned the use of federal funds in abortion, taxpayer money. If a subsidized health care plan includes abortion, that's using taxpayer money to pay for abortion. We want this bill to be abortion neutral. Abortion is decriminlized, but it's not a right.
