Evidently, Mr. Pollack's career began long before the movies. While going through my late Mother's effects - she was a great opera fan - I discovered a playbill from the Metropolitan Opera Company from 1936 for a performance of "The Eternal Road" by Kurt Weill. Listed in the credits was Sidney Pollack along with Dick van Patten. The opera starred Lotte Lenya and Sam Jaffe (later of Dr. Zorba fame). Who knew ?!?!
