I found out that if you grow up to be rich and powerful the rules don't apply to you.
I can sum up my adult life with that revelation. I am sickened and disheartened to see the current state of affairs of the Democratic party.
The reality is, that if HRC was anyone else they wouldn't have made it to March. It is sick that she co-opted feminism for her own political aspirations and no one will say anything about it! Since when is victim-hood a "feminist trait". She has risked a substantial backlash against women and feminism in this country, not to mention racial turmoil. If she was Chris Dodd, or Edwards, or the positions were reversed would we be having this conversation?
If the voters are willing to once again sacrifice their own self interest and the interests of our nation for some petty feelings, then perhaps we do not deserve our republic.
Perhaps now the term "mulatto" will fall out of disuse.
Who cares if this is historic? The Democrats (and that is the rich, powerful Super Delegates) have succeeded in nominating someone who, regardless of his ethnicity or color, lost Texas, lost California, lost New York, lost Pennsylvania, lost Ohio, lost Florida (where no one campaigned, so no whining).
We have two Supreme Court justices over the age of 70 who are on the liberal wing of the Court. When a woman cannot get a safe, legal abortion on this country for the next 100 years we can all sit around and talk about historic.
As a black American I am nothing but proud and ecstatic. I'm curious about what his nomination says about our nations ability to face our own history. Our first black president will not be a descendant of slaves, I wonder if he had the same accomplishments and been the descendant of slaves would he have been as embraceable? Will we have the courage to finally acknowledge and openly discuss our history?
