Reporting from inside the Illinois scandal

Friday, December 12, 2008

Columnist and commentator Clarence Page is on the editorial board of the Chicago Tribune. That makes him part of the story.
"My coffee almost went out through my nose! I was shocked and the whole editorial board felt the same."
— Clarence Page
One of the allegations against Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich is that he tried to get some members of the Trib's editorial board fired in exchange for helping the paper's parent company sell the Chicago Cubs and Wrigley Field. If he tried, he didn't succeed--no one was fired and no one felt any pressure to ease up on critical coverage of the Governor. Clarence Page gives The Takeaway an inside perspective.
