Oh, Miley! Manufactured controversy?

Tuesday, April 29, 2008

Parents are up in arms over racy shots of teen pop star Miley Cyrus shot by photographer Annie Leibovitz for the May issue of Vanity Fair magazine. The 15-year-old Hannah Montana star has apologized, calling the photos a mistake.
The Takeaway wonders who benefits from the controversy? Is it Vanity Fair, which is sure to see a spike in the number of magazines sold? Or Cyrus herself? Mary Elizabeth Williams, The Takeaway's cultural critic — and the mother of two Miley fanatics — shares her take on tween and teen marketing.

Sorry, had to go but wanted to add more... I guess when the pictures are in a magazine called Vanity Fair (Vanity means WORTHLESSNESS)that is what you expect... I just hope that if these pictures were found in an old mans apartment that someone would think it's odd enough to get involved.

Just one more time where we forget that we reap what we sow. Miley may or may not be sorry now, but she will be later... I just know that I'm not sorry... I never let my children get caught up in this ridiculous worship of "superstars", we watch things that benefit them. We plant ON PURPOSE to reap a harvest of TRUE confidence.

I think Miley knew exactly what she was doing when this photo shoot was presented. Just recently some risque photos were all over the web of Miley and her bf (Tom Sturges) where she's flashing her bra. Now she says she's embarrassed. Of course she's going to say that, she's the poster child for Disney. And the photo on the cover of Vanity Fair is no more revealing than the one Britney did in April, 1999. Oops, maybe that's not a good thing.

Nothing to be concerned about, poppycock! Those who view this as "a typical staged Leibovitz photo" and or are thinking what's all the fuss about are selling our children short. Miley is a child. Those running the media, and giving their "OK" to this pic should have their 15 year old's picture taken like Miley's pose and circulate them as presents at Christmas and see what the family and grandparents have to say. Shame, shame on the Cyrus family and Leibovitz.

I don't understand how you can be "topless" while covered. Aren't we all naked under our clothes?
